Coupon Terms & Abbreviations

Learning the coupon lingo is very easy.  Here’s a simple explanation of what the acronyms mean (in alphabetical order):

BLINKIES = In Store Smart Source Coupons

BOGO or B1G1 = Buy one Get one free

CAT = A cat is a catalina coupon that prints at register after purchase. It can be for $$ off a certain product or for $$ off your next order.

DND = Do not Double (Some coupons spell it out)

DOUBLE COUPON = Coupon that grocery store doubles in value

EB or ECB = Extra Care Buck

ESR = EasySaver Catalog at Walgreens

FAR = Free After Rebate

IP = Internet Printable Coupon

IVC = Instant Value Coupon at Walgreens. Walgreens store coupon.

MFG = Manufacturer’s Coupon

MIR = Mail In Rebate

OOP = Out of Pocket

OOS = Out of Stock

OYNO = On Your Next Order

P&G = Procter and Gamble insert

PEELIE = Coupon you peel off package

Q = Coupon

RC = Raincheck

RP = Red Plum insert

SCR: Single Check Rebate

SS = Smartsource insert

STACKING = Using a store specific coupon with a MFG coupon (most stores allow this)

TEAR PAD = A pad of coupons or MIR near a product or on display

WT = Winetag is a coupon that usually can be found hanging from the neck of wine bottles, hence the name.

WYB = When you Buy

YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary (It means that it depends on the store policies/factors whether the deal will work or not)
